A father sought his vanished son from the sorcerer - and a headless spirit pointed the boy out in the well.
On Eckerö in Åland a crofter in Flaka lost his son and turned to old Michelsgubben in Norrby. Defying a warning, he stayed the night in a barn and saw the sorcerer summon a headless figure, which revealed that the boy had fallen into a well. The spirit refused to harm the praying father, and the boy was found in the well. When the sorcerer died, a dreadful din was heard, as of riders in the attic.
