On his way home from the fair, the old man gained a companion who flung the Bible off the shelf.

A noted horse-dealer in Borgby is said to have been joined by a dark companion on the road home from the Borgå fair. Inside the cottage the visitor wreaked havoc, even hurling the Bible from its shelf, yet the old man only begged that his clock be left untouched. At the next fair the unwelcome companion vanished as suddenly as he had come.
