The Whirlwind in the Rye on Ormsö

Like a serpent the deadly whirlwind tore through the field - all it touched fell.

On Ormsö they tell of a dark power that swept across the fields in the shape of a whirlwind, coiling like a serpent through the rye. The harvesters threw themselves aside, for everything it struck was killed; two black oxen dropped dead at once. A fisherman caught unawares was left paralysed and had to be carried home before he was cured by smoking with feathers and herbs.
