Jakob de la Gardie and St. James's Church

Finland · Kyrka · Scare 3/5

A garter or a shoe was always missing - until a church broke the pact.

It is told that Jakob de la Gardie had pledged his soul for the day he was fully dressed, but that some small thing was always wanting. At last he had St. James's Church built in Stockholm, measured it round with his arms and prayed at the altar, by which the pact was annulled. The dark power swept past in a carriage with sparks flying, but Jakob was saved.
