In Lojo they tell of a poor man promised riches by a dark figure in return for what his wife carried under her apron; he was thinking of the keys but had pledged his unborn child. To save the boy he was set adrift in a box on the sea, but was found and raised to become a priest. When the day of reckoning came, the priest's Bible proved a match for the evil one, who had to settle for taking the staircase.
