The dark one came to trade horses with a drunken crofter, but Mrs Wellick's words drove him out at last.

At Smeds croft in Savjärv, Sibbo, lived a hard-drinking horse-trader who one day was visited by the devil in a fine carriage with a black horse. The crofter fell to his knees and prayed with his hymnbook, and the dark one turned into a black dog and raged for three days. The irreligious priest Wallgren could do nothing, but Mrs Wellick from Borgby finally drove the fiend from the croft with God's word.
