Chiang Mai University Dormitory
Chiang Mai · Thailand · House
In women's dormitory number seven, the sound 'pok... pok...' is said to betray the student dragging herself down the corridor.
The seventh women's dormitory at Chiang Mai University is the setting of one of Thailand's best-known campus legends. A female student is said to have met a violent death in the building, and at night a rhythmic 'pok... pok...' is heard — the sound of her body dragging itself across the floor, storey by storey, toward the room where she once lived. The story became the opening segment of the 2009 horror film Haunted Universities and is passed on to every new intake of students. To this day, residents leave offerings in hopes of an undisturbed night's sleep.
