Cemil Molla Mansion
Istanbul · Turkiet · Haunted house
In the decaying pasha's mansion on Nakkastepe hill, a long-haired woman is said to appear in mirrors and play the piano at night.
The mansion on Nakkastepe hill above Kuzguncuk was built in 1885 for the music-loving official Cemil Molla and then stood derelict for decades. According to legend, restoration workers repeatedly abandoned the job within days: they saw a long-haired woman in old-fashioned dress in the mirrors and heard piano music drifting from empty rooms. Neighbours told of a figure wandering the deserted floors at night, and the nearby old cemetery was thought to explain the unrest in the house. The mansion ranks among Istanbul's classic haunted addresses.
