The rails ended abruptly in mid-air — and for twenty years the legend of the derailed train and sixty dead kept the ruin alive.

The roller coaster's rails ended abruptly in mid-air among the trees. In fact it was a deliberate 'broken track' attraction, but for the legend it was proof: the train had derailed and taken sixty lives. For two decades the ruin drew night-time adventurers who came back with stories of children's laughter, screams and figures among the rusting rides, and the horror film The Tag-Along 2 was shot here.

The Katoli amusement park opened in 1983 in the green hills of Dakeng above Taichung and closed eleven years later, overnight. The structures were demolished in 2017, but the site's reputation persists — as recently as 2024, explorers found a dead woman on the grounds.
