In the mining magnate's baroque villa by Keelung harbour, a dancer with a half-burned face is said to appear at the windows, wrapped in a green glow.

The stately baroque mansion on the harbour front of Keelung was built in 1931 by mining magnate Lin Kai-jun and is known locally simply as the "Keelung ghost house". Legend tells of a 1950s dance-hall girl who fell pregnant by an American soldier; when he mocked and abandoned her she set fire to the establishment, and many burned to death. Ever since, passers-by claim to have seen her half-burned face at the windows and an eerie green glow inside the empty house. Local historians have shown the fire actually struck a photo studio of the same name, and the glow likely came from squatters' candles – but the rumour has proved impossible to kill. The mansion still stands, half-derelict, awaiting restoration.
