The story is that a homeless man was trying to hitch a ride up Pine Mountain Road towards Marquette, where he had heard there was work.

No name survives, which is exactly what happened to men in that position: they moved between towns looking for work, nobody local knew them, and when one of them died there was often no one to notify.
