A girl in Eksingedal refused a suitor and swore she would rather have the Evil One than him, yet ended up marrying another. At the wedding a stranger came and danced with the bride, and the fiddler saw that he had horse's hooves. He danced out through the door with her, and before he could carry her far he had a boy lift off her bridal crown. Then he sank with her straight down through the earth.
