Above the grand staircase of the Massey family's Toronto mansion, a hanged maid is still said to appear in her noose.

The Gothic mansion Euclid Hall on Jarvis Street was built in the 1860s and became home to the powerful Massey industrial dynasty — today it houses The Keg steakhouse. When the family's daughter Lillian Massey died in the house in 1915, one of her most devoted maids is said to have taken it so hard that she hanged herself in the oval vestibule. Ever since, diners report glimpsing a woman's figure hanging in a noose above the grand staircase — always in that exact spot. Children's laughter and running footsteps are also heard from the upper floor, where the Massey children once lived.
