A stranger joined the card game in Bruvik, the cards went missing — and a horse's foot showed under the table. Priest Grøgård had to conjure him out.

In Bruvik they tell of a time when the Evil One joined a party of card-players and began to play. The others noticed the cards were vanishing, and under the table they saw the stranger had one horse's foot and one ordinary. The priest Grøgård bound him. The old one resisted and brought up sins the priest was said to have committed, but it did no good. At last the priest conjured him out through a hole he had bored in the barrel of a lead syringe.
