A ruined homeowner was visited one night by a stranger offering a great sum of money in exchange for holding a party in the topmost room – on condition that no one disturb it. Music thundered until dawn, and according to legend it was the Devil himself celebrating his wedding; a servant who peeked through the keyhole was found struck dumb and died soon after.
