Hotel Francés
Jalisco · Mexiko · Hotel
On the third floor of Guadalajara's oldest inn, dating from 1610, an elegant gentleman, a little girl and a nun make their appearances.
Hotel Francés opened in 1610 as the Mesón de San José and is Guadalajara's oldest inn, a stone's throw from the cathedral. Four centuries of guests have left the house with persistent ghost stories: on the third floor an elegantly dressed man from a bygone era is said to appear in the corridor, a little girl haunts one of the rooms, and several guests describe a nun gliding past in the stairwell. Visitors report inexplicable chills, knocking sounds and the sense of company in empty rooms. The hotel, a national monument since 1892, now markets its ghosts as readily as its colonial architecture.
