At the castle above the Dunajec, Brunhilda is said to haunt the walls after plunging into the castle well during a quarrel.

High above Lake Czorsztyn in the Pieniny Mountains stands the 14th-century castle of Niedzica, one of Poland's most legend-laden strongholds. According to the tale, Princess Brunhilda lived here with her husband Bogusław – during a violent quarrel she was pushed and fell into the castle well, and ever since both their ghosts wander the castle at night, his weighed down by remorse. The castle is also linked to a White Lady and to rumours of hidden Inca gold, after a descendant of the Inca noble Tupac Amaru allegedly concealed a quipu testament here. Today the castle is a museum, but the well still stands in the courtyard.
