Aramberri House
Nuevo León · Mexico · House
After the 1933 double murder, the family parrot exposed the killer - and the house in Monterrey never knew peace again.
On 5 April 1933, Antonia Lozano and her 19-year-old daughter Florinda were brutally murdered in the family home on Aramberri street in Monterrey; one of the killers was Antonia's own nephew Gabriel. According to the famous legend, the crime was exposed by the family parrot, which kept shrieking 'Don't kill me, Gabriel!'. The house then stood abandoned for decades while neighbours reported weeping, shadows and objects moving behind the boarded-up windows. Casa de Aramberri became northern Mexico's most talked-about haunted house and has recently reopened as a restaurant and museum about the case.
