Ozone Disco (fire site)
Quezon City, Metro Manila · Filippinerna · Urban site
Where the Ozone disco burned in 1996 with 162 dead, phantom music and dancing shadows were said to linger in the ruin.
On the night of 18 March 1996, fire broke out in the Ozone disco on Timog Avenue, in the middle of graduation celebrations. At least 162 people died as panicking guests were trapped against an inward-opening door – the worst fire in Philippine history. In the years that followed, neighbours spoke of phantom music from the burnt-out ruin and shadows that seemed to keep dancing behind the windows. The building was demolished in 2015 and a 24-hour diner now stands on the site; its owner reportedly first 'spoke with' the spirits before opening.
