From a cave in the cliff the dark one rode out by night in a black carriage, until a pastor banished him back.
By the shore near Pyhalepa on Dagö stands a steep cliff with caves, one of which is called the Devil's Smithy. From there the dark one rode out at night in a black carriage drawn by four black horses to the de la Gardie estate. Pastor Jahn conjured him and forced him back to the smithy, which he could no longer leave. His hammering at last annoyed women washing at the shore, who whipped him with wet cloths until he vanished.
