The Prenn Pass Ghost Villa
Đà Lạt, Lâm Đồng · Vietnam · Haunted house
In the French hillside villa by Prenn Pass, a young woman who leapt to her death is said to walk the rooms still.
The two century-old villas on the road up to Prenn Pass are Đà Lạt's most notorious haunted houses. Legend has it the main villa was built in 1912 by a French officer who one night invited a young songstress; when he drunkenly tried to force himself on her, she threw herself from the upper floor and died. A string of mysterious deaths followed — a girl found hanged, a body on the third floor — and the houses stood abandoned for decades while taxi drivers refused to stop there after dark. When the villas were recently restored for tourism, the work is said to have been preceded by two years of ceremonies to make peace with the house's unseen residents.
