The terminus of Metro Line 7 is named the dead man's ravine, after a gully in the area that lay between trenches during the Revolution and into which the fallen are said to have been thrown. Out of that name grew the city's most widely told metro legend: the vampire of Barranca del Muerto. The story says that anyone who falls asleep in the rear carriages of the last train of the night is bitten. In the usual version a man woke to find the carriage motionless, the train withdrawn from service and himself alone in the darkened terminus — and something moving in the carriage behind him. Passengers and staff also describe laments in the tunnel after the final departure.
